All metal carports need to be placed on a sufficiently large area that has been leveled so that the structure is not compromised.
Five things move the price of a metal carport: overall width and length, leg height, steel gauge, roof style, and whether the structure needs wind or snow load certification. Metal carport sizes can be customized to your needs. To determine the right carport size, consider the following: a 12' wide carport can fit a single car. For two cars, you'll likely need a 22' carport or larger.

Custom widths, lengths, and leg heights are available beyond the sizes listed above.
Measure the vehicle you intend to cover, then add four to six feet of width beyond that minimum. The extra width costs relatively little at the time of order and cannot be added afterwards.
Leg height matters just as much: a standard car clears a 7-foot leg, but a raised truck, a boat on a trailer or a small RV needs 9 to 12 feet.
A carport can also be closed in on one, two, three or all four sides later, which turns it into a fully enclosed metal garage. It is worth deciding early — the frame, leg height, and anchoring can be specified for it at the time of order rather than retrofitted.
Three roof styles are available, and the right one depends mostly on your climate. Regular roofs cost the least and suit mild weather. A boxed eave gives an A-frame, residential look. Vertical roofs run the panels from the peak down so snow, rain, and debris shed fastest, which makes them the right choice anywhere with real winter weather.

Our regular roof carports are the most economical steel structures that you can buy to protect your car from the outdoors. With a curved roof style, they are simple, yet elegant and effective.
Requirements vary by city and county. Many jurisdictions exempt open structures below a set square footage, but a permit is common for anything permanently anchored. Pulling the permit is the customer's responsibility, and we can supply the engineered drawings your building department asks for.
Certification also determines the wind and snow load rating your carport is built to, and it is worth specifying at order because it cannot be added afterwards. Ask your specialist whether your area requires engineer-certified plans.
Anchoring depends on the surface the carport sits on. On concrete, we use wedge anchors driven into the slab. On asphalt, we use asphalt anchors. On gravel or bare ground, we use auger anchors, which screw into the soil and resist uplift.
Correct anchoring is what carries the wind rating, so the surface should be confirmed before the order is placed. A gravel pad should be at least four inches deep, contained by a border, and extend slightly past the carport's footprint.
Bulldog offers three metal carport roof styles: (1) Vertical roof — panels run from peak to eave, best for shedding rain, snow, and debris; (2) Boxed Eave (A-frame) — streamlined design that matches most home aesthetics, available in 12–30' widths; and (3) Regular roof — curved, most affordable style, ideal for basic vehicle protection. Vertical is strongly recommended in high-snow or heavy-rain regions.
Yes. Metal carports can be installed on level ground (grass or dirt), gravel pads, asphalt, or concrete slabs. The site must be level and stable, and Bulldog uses the appropriate anchoring system for your surface — rebar anchors for ground installation, concrete anchors for slabs, or asphalt anchors. Concrete slabs are the most durable long-term option and are recommended for larger carports.
Yes. Any Bulldog metal carport can be partially or fully enclosed with side panels, end walls, walk-in doors, garage doors, or windows — effectively turning it into a metal garage. This is a popular upgrade path: buyers start with an open carport and add walls over time. Fully enclosing a carport is more affordable than buying a garage from scratch.
Most standard metal carports can be installed in a single day — often just 3 to 6 hours once the crew arrives. Larger custom carports or those with lean-tos and enclosures may take 1–2 days. Delivery typically happens 2 to 6 weeks after ordering, depending on your location and the current production schedule. Installation is included and performed by professional crews.
Standard metal carports typically withstand winds of 30–65 mph, while certified metal carports are engineered for 90+ mph wind loads depending on your local code. In hurricane- or tornado-prone regions, certification is often required and strongly recommended. Bulldog builds every carport to meet or exceed your local wind and snow load requirements.

I have now had my building in place for 3 months and I want to say that the whole team at Bulldog was very helpful throughout the entire process. My salesperson, Matthew, was extremely responsive. He was very helpful with the design phase, where we went back and forth with 3-4 different designs before settling on the perfect one. He always got back to me right away when I had a question. Although the delivery was delayed, understandable with the pandemic, he helped interface with Carolina Carports when I had delivery questions. So far I have no issues with the completed building. No leaks and all the doors are functioning perfectly. I would highly recommend using Bulldog for all your metal building needs.

I visited their website and used the 3D estimator and was able to see my building with doors, window placements, colors,and overall look. When you add or change any feature, including size, you can immediately see the result and change in price (if any). You can rotate the structure to see the overall look and framework. Once I placed my order, it was quickly and efficiently handled and the cost was lower than the estimate on the website The installers showed up early one morning and by noon the next day they had completed the structure. Everyone that comes by remarks on how nice it looks. I am very pleased with every aspect from ordering to installation.
