A 3-car garage is a fully enclosed building wide enough to park three vehicles side by side, with walls on all four sides, a roof, and at least one door. In steel construction that means 30 feet of width as a minimum, because each bay needs roughly ten feet.
Depth is the part that varies. A 30' x 30' parks three cars and closes the door. A 30' x 40' garage parks three and leaves a full ten-foot strip across the back for a bench, shelving, or a mower — which is why it is the size most people actually end up ordering.
A 3-car garage is 30 feet wide as standard, with depths from 30 to 70 feet. Ten feet of width per vehicle is the working rule: less than that and the doors will not open cleanly once three vehicles are in.
| Size | Best for | What also fits |
|---|---|---|
| 30' x 30' | Three vehicles, parked and closed up | Little else — the vehicles and a narrow shelf |
| 30' x 40' | Three vehicles plus a full working strip at the back | Bench, shelving, mower, bikes |
| 30' x 60' | Three vehicles with a separate workshop half | A partitioned shop, or a boat parked lengthways |
| 30' x 70' | Vehicles, workshop and equipment storage | An RV down one bay with two cars beside it |
Sizing tip: width is fixed by the number of vehicles, so the only real decision is depth. Going from a 30x30 to a 30x40 adds a usable ten-foot working strip for a fraction of what a separate shed would cost — and it is the single most common upgrade buyers wish they had made.
Three-car metal garages start at $18,500 installed for a 30' x 30' and run to $32,268.75 for a 30' x 70'. Depth drives the price, then roof style, then how many doors and windows are specified. Every price below includes delivery and professional installation.
| Garage | Size (W x L x H) | SKU | Starting at |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3-Car Metal Garage | 30' x 30' x 12' | GRG-303012 | $18,500 |
| 3-Car Metal Garage | 30' x 40' x 12' | GRG-3035 | $18,850 |
| 3-Car Metal Garage | 30' x 40' x 12' | GRG-304012 | $19,100 |
| 3-Car All Vertical Garage | 30' x 40' x 12' | GRG-3040AV | $19,100 |
| 3-Car Metal Garage | 30' x 60' x 12' | GRA-3060 | $23,320 |
| 3-Car Metal Garage | 30' x 70' x 12' | GRA-3071 | $32,268.75 |

Get a Free QuoteEither three single doors or one triple-wide opening, and the choice changes how the building is framed. Three 9- or 10-foot roll-up doors are the conventional layout; a single wide opening needs a header across the span and costs more.
Get a Free QuoteThe practical answer.
For most buyers: three doors on the 30-foot face, plus a walk-in door on the side so the roll-ups do not have to be opened to fetch a tool.
Door height is set by the eave height.
A 12-foot eave clears a 10-foot door, which takes a lifted truck, a van, or an RV in one bay.
Three, and on a building this size, the choice matters more than it does on a small one.
Rounded eaves, horizontal panels. The cheapest option, and fine in mild climates with little snow.
An A-frame shape with horizontal panels. Looks more like a house roof; the same weather performance as regular.
A-frame with vertical panels and ridge caps. Rain and snow run straight off rather than sitting in the ridges. On a 30-foot span carrying a lot of roof area, this is the one to buy anywhere with real snow load.
Yes. A lean-to is a single-slope roof section attached to the side or the end of the main building, and it is the cheapest square footage on the order — covered parking, equipment storage, or a run-in, sharing the garage's frame and foundation.
On a 3-car garage, a lean-to is usually added down one full side, which turns a three-bay enclosed garage into a three-bay garage plus covered parking for a boat, a trailer or a fourth vehicle.
It can be specified
Lean-tos are available across the whole Bulldog range, not just garages. See our lean to metal building page for carports, patios and larger structures with lean-to sections and Clear Span Garages.
Every opening and every dimension is set at order, not picked from a shelf.
Specified independently of the 30-foot width.
How many, how wide, how tall, and on which face.
Positioned on the side or the end.
Placed where light is actually needed.
Splitting parking from a workshop bay within one shell.
Added to either side, either end, or both.
Roof, walls and trim chosen separately, previewed in the Color Planner before ordering.
Specified at order if part of the building becomes a workshop.
Almost always, because the third bay is the cheapest one. The expensive parts of a garage are the ends, the doors, and the foundation work — adding ten feet of width to an existing span costs far less per square foot than the first twenty feet did.
| Feature | 2-car garage | 3-car garage |
|---|---|---|
| Typical width | 20 to 24 ft | 30 ft |
| Vehicles | Two, side by side | Three, side by side |
| Spare bay | None — the second car takes it | A workshop, a boat or a trailer |
| Cost per square foot | Higher | Lower — the span is already paid for |
| Resale appeal | Standard | Stronger, particularly on rural and semi-rural property |
The buyers who regret a 2-car are the ones who bought it for two cars and then acquired a mower, a boat, or a hobby. The third bay is what absorbs all of that.
Yes. Rent-to-own metal garages are available for three-car metal garages with:
Often the deciding factor at this price point.
On a building at this price point, rent-to-own is often the deciding factor because it removes the large upfront payment without a credit application. Financing is also available for qualified buyers and generally gives longer terms with lower monthly payments.
Four steps, and the first one is free — pick the depth, get it priced, choose a payment method, and prepare the ground.
Width is set by three vehicles; the decision is 30, 40, 60, or 70 feet deep. The 3D designer builds it on screen, or a specialist takes the details on 888-551-2156.
Bulldog confirms the specification, any local permit and certification requirements, and the installed price.
Pay outright, finance, or take rent-to-own with no credit check.
Level concrete, asphalt, or gravel. Bulldog delivers and installs; site preparation is the customer's responsibility.

Auger anchors on gravel, wedge anchors on a slab.
Bulldog’s metal barns, garages, and carports are available for delivery and installation in most of the U.S. Whether you’re a homeowner in Maine, a rancher in Texas, or a small business owner in California, you’ll get to-your-door delivery and professional installation, so your building will be sturdy and reliable for years to come.
The standard steel 3-car garage is 30 feet wide, with depths of 30, 40, 60, or 70 feet. Thirty feet is the working minimum because each bay needs roughly ten feet for the vehicle and the door swing. Depth is the real decision, and it depends on whether a workbench or workshop goes in behind the vehicles.
Yes, but with nothing to spare. A 30' x 30' parks three vehicles side by side and closes the door, and that is about all it does. If a workbench, shelving, or a mower is part of the plan, a 30' x 40' adds a full ten-foot working strip across the back for a modest increase in price.
Three separate doors are the conventional layout, typically 9 or 10 feet wide each on the 30-foot face. A single triple-wide opening is possible but needs a header across the span and costs more. A walk-in door on the side is worth adding either way, so the roll-ups do not have to be opened to fetch a tool.
No. A 3-car metal garage installs on concrete, asphalt, or gravel. A gravel pad should be at least four inches deep, contained by a border, and extend slightly past the building's footprint. On gravel, the garage is fixed with auger anchors rather than the concrete wedge anchors used on a slab. Most buyers choose concrete at this size because the floor gets used.
Yes, and on a 30' x 60' it is the usual arrangement, three bays of parking at one end and a partitioned shop at the other. Specify insulation and a vapour barrier if tools or electronics are staying in there, because bare steel panels condense when warm, humid air meets a cool roof. Electrical is run after installation by a licensed tradesperson.
I'm really happy with the way my building turned out! Due to living in city limits I had to make changes to my original plan but working with Bryan made it easy. He was great to work with!
Bulldog Steel Structures is fantastic. We had a 24'x40' garage built with two 10' garage doors, an entry door, two windows and fully insulated for under $16,000. The whole experience was so easy. Our salesman was Bryan Valadez. Bryan was so helpful and was easily available to answer my questions. Rebekah Aldridge handled all the documents and signing of them. The whole process was great. The building is well constructed and the crew that erected it were courteous and cleaned the worksite afterwords thoroughly. They did an excellent job in a time efficient period. Our experience with Bulldog Steel Structures was just great and we highly recommend them.
I'm in early stages, just put deposit on building. I reviewed about 10 quotes and worked with many vendors in the space to assess. Constance from Bulldog Steel Structures made the experience fabulous and was key in our decision making. It's so refreshing to see a company like this have such outstanding client facing service. We are excited and huge shout out to Constance and the team. Bravo!
I have purchased two structures/buildings from them and have been greatly satisfied. From "idea to implementation" it has gone smoothly. I love the idea of having one single point of contact (Noah) for any questions or concerns. The install crew comes in and gets right to work and the quality is the best I have seen. Highly Recommend!
I worked with Bryan Valadez in putting together my bids for a 2000 SF shop/garage. He was great to work with, very quick to respond and answered all my questions and concerns during several very thorough conversations regarding my project. I recommend you give Bulldog a shot when searching for your next building, their pricing was very good compared with some of the others, and they just seemed to have it very together for their process. Great Job, thanks Bryan. Jason
Showed up on time and excellent quality. Could not be more pleased with the results!
I called and spoke to Bryan. With some back and forth he helped me finalize the design (40x100 foot print). I placed my order and had to wait for my King County building permit to be issued. Once the slab was completed the installation team arrived with all the pieces. They got right to work and the building was completed in 8 days !!! I would highly recommend Bryan and Bulldog to any one :) Many thanks john in the pacific northwest
Great company to do business with. Would recommend them to others.
Great to deal with. Building went up with no problems.
I had a great experience with Bulldog Steel Buildings. The representatives were able to help me move from the online design to an actual building design to meet my goals. They set up the delivery and installation which turned out great. Installation was scheduled quickly after the foundation was done; and the building was completed within 2 days. Pricing was reasonable, and I'm very pleased with my new building.
Bryan was great- honest, helpful, responsive and knowledgeable. I will call him if I ever need another steel building
This company is the real deal. They go over and beyond to satisfy their customers. It is a joy to work with them. They are very knowledgeable and efficient. I looked forward to finishing my project with them.
Humberto was very responsive and it was a pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond to get delivery scheduled as soon as possible for our 30x50 building. Great company to work with.
Hey folks - these people at Bulldog are real. Noah helped me all the way through - extremely patient and knowledgeable. He answers most often and when he doesn't it's easy to get another HUMAN to speak with. I looked at several companies for this project - I settled on the right one. If you wind up doing business with Brian - you're in luck there to. Outstanding work - worthy of trust.
I purchased a 26x32 Garage from Bulldog Steel Structures they had it finished in two days. It looks really nice and the install crew was great. I’m thinking of getting another building and I will definitely contact Bryan Valadez again at Bulldog.
Great experience from start to finish. The sales process was easy and Casey helped me revise my plans several times to get the right building for my needs. Communication was excellent! The build crew was on time, friendly and professional. Beto took the time to understand what cutouts I needed and why I needed them in the sizes planned. Exceptional work. Highly recommend. Thank you!
I would recommend Bulldog Steel Structures highly. They are very professional and accommodating. Want to give special thanks to Randall Hall and also matt preslar. They were very accommodating and helping me fill out paperwork and handling things when a timely basis. The building we were very satisfied with and the installers also were very polite and had things done on a timely basis. Thanks again Randall and Matt you`ve got my five star rating
Bulldog has been great to work with. They explained everything from beginning to end. I live in the mountains of New Mexico and the staff made sure that my garage had the right support needed for this area of the country. I would highly recommend them for anyone building a new carport or gaeage!
Good design tool on their website. Great customer service.
Have had nothing but a positive experience with Bulldog! Bryan was super helpful and still is after our install! He still responds super prompt and helpful. No complaints about our structure, as it looks amazing! Installers did a great job and picked up very nicely after they were done. Highly recommend!!
I have now had my building in place for 3 months and I want to say that the whole team at Bulldog was very helpful throughout the entire process. My salesperson, Matthew, was extremely responsive. He was very helpful with the design phase, where we went back and forth with 3-4 different designs before settling on the perfect one. He always got back to me right away when I had a question. Although the delivery was delayed, understandable with the pandemic, he helped interface with Carolina Carports when I had delivery questions. So far I have no issues with the completed building. No leaks and all the doors are functioning perfectly. I would highly recommend using Bulldog for all your metal building needs.
Frank Rangel was very helpful and respectful. Also very understanding. I was pouring a concrete driveway and trying to put my down payment down. I may of got a little frustrated in the middle of it all. I could see the smile on Frank`s face the whole time! Thank you sir!
This is my second building from bulldog and I`m buying the same building , just different colors. They are great buildings that are strong and economical.
Excellent customer service during my order process, answered all my questions and they were very patient.
The website was very flexible and helped me customize my carport. The Bulldog staff was very prompt and helpful throughout the process.
Put up a RV cover for me on a concrete pad. Turned out great and the guys cleaned up after the work. Very satisfied. Would recommend these people.
I love my “She Shop.” It was amazingly easy. I sent an email, made 2 phones calls and it was done. The installation went even easier. Three guys showed up one day and finished the next. They were polite and cleaned up after themselves. My husband’s friends are all very impressed with the construction and materials used but were amazed at the reasonable price. I could not be more pleased. Thank you
I visited their website and used the 3D estimator and was able to see my building with doors, window placements, colors, and overall look. When you add or change any feature, including size, you can immediately see the result and change in price (if any). You can rotate the structure to see the overall look and framework. Once I placed my order, it was quickly and efficiently handled and the cost was lower than the estimate on the website The installers showed up early one morning and by noon the next day they had completed the structure. Everyone that comes by remarks on how nice it looks. I am very pleased with every aspect from ordering to installation.
